150g potatoes       
1 medium onion        
1 green chilli                   
125g gram flour 

Serves: 4 

 ½ tsp red chilli powder

1 tsp fenugreek leaves

2 tbsp olive oil  


  1. Mix the gram flour and red chilli powder. Add some water and beat the mixture until it becomes a thick smooth batter.

  2. Cut the potato and onion into thin slices and chop the green chilli.

  3. Add the potato, onion, chilli and fenugreek leaves to the batter and mix thoroughly.

  4. Heat the oil in a frying pan.

  5. Take a little of the batter mix (about 2tsp) and drop it into the oil. Cook in the oil until golden brown. You can fry 6-8 pakoras at a time.

  6. Place on kitchen paper to absorb excess oil after cooking.

  7. Serve with a hot green chutney or chilli sauce.
